Artist Statement as of September 12, 2026

I consistently return to exploring connections between human and non-human kin, the internal reflection of the collective, and the experience of living in a body with neuropathic pain.

I utilize the mediums of ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting and fiber arts to imagine worlds in which time is cyclical, to create work that inspires people towards connection with each other and the natural world, and to investigate modes of personal and collective protection.

In my drawings and paintings, my work is governed by a dream-like logic. I am drawn to the medium of ceramics for its resonant capabilities and the aspect of communal play that arises from this revelation. Through ceramics and found material sculpture, I also investigate themes of protection and defense by creating armor-like and skeletal pieces. I dissect my experience of living with sciatica through exploring relationships between the emotional, spiritual, energetic, and physical realms. Over the past year, I have been examining how the mind tends to overprotect in the presence of fear – unraveling stories I have told myself about my own pain and reconstructing them through the frame of personal mythology.

My work desires to illuminate the webs that hold us together, while also remaining rooted in a deeply healing, process and material based practice. Much of my work is modular which lends it the ability to be re-arranged, giving individual components the chance to gain new lives in various configurations – mirroring the cycles of life, death, and rebirth that surround us.
